Known to the online poker world as "Birdguts," this Canadian superstar continues to amaze championship tournament fields with his uncanny ability to take down titles. Starting in poker at the age of 26, it wasn't long before Smith was making a name for himself on the tournament circuit.
Smith's first big victory came when he won the 1999 No Limit Texas Hold'em event at the World Poker Finals as Foxwoods Resort & Casino. The following year he went on to win the Seven Card Stud event at Foxwoods as well.
Although he continued to play well over the next several years, 2005 marked Smith's biggest year to date. Smith steamrolled his opposition, earning the World Poker Tour (WPT) season four Player of the Year award by winning the WPT Mirage Poker Showdown, finishing third at the Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship, and making a third WPT final table in January of 2006.
In addition to his WPT feats, Smith finished second at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit event at Harrah's casino in New Orleans as well as making a first place finish in the Mansion Poker World Pro-Am Challenge event. In addition, Smith made the money in four separate events at the 2006 WSOP.
Having earned over $3.2 million to date, Smith, an associated member of Full Tilt, continues to roll over the competition and earn his place in poker history.
