Kentucky Fried Chicken airs National Television Commercials featuring Gavin Smith, Paul Wasicka, and David Williams

Professional poker players Gavin Smith, Paul Wasicka, and David Williams, all exclusively represented by Poker Royalty, will appear in national television commercials for Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) airing on ESPN. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

KFC will sponsor the “Hold’em or Fold’em” segment for the 2007 World Series of Poker WSOP Main Event, which debuted on ESPN’s WSOP broadcast on Tuesday, August 21st. The commercials focus on the players’ ability to correctly read opponents’ hands, all while eating their favorite KFC dish.

KFC Corporation, based in Louisville, KY, is the world’s most popular chicken restaurant chain. Colonel Harland Sanders laid the groundwork for his legendary chicken empire almost a century ago, and there are now more than 14,000 KFC outlets in more than 80 countries and territories around the world, serving some 12 million customers each day.

“This is a great step forward for Gavin, Paul, David, and poker in general,” said Brian Balsbaugh, President of Poker Royalty. “Having KFC, the leading chicken chain in the world, embracing poker signals that the poker industry is quickly emerging as a viable outlet for sponsors to achieve their marketing and advertising goals.”

“I am very happy to be affiliated with KFC,” said Paul Wasicka, the 2007 NBC National Heads-Up Champion. “This new relationship with KFC presents me with a fantastic opportunity to reach a broader base of fans. It was an honor to be asked to work with them.”
