Few players in the history of tournament poker have burst onto the scene the way Paul Wasicka did in 2006. With a 15th place finish in the 2006 World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship Paul Wasicka earned $146,460 and in the process put the poker world on notice that he would be heard from again.

A little more than three months later Paul Wasicka finished runner-up in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and instantly became a star in the poker world. The $6-million prize for finishing second was nice, but Paul Wasicka's competitive nature pushed him to find more success. He wouldn't have to wait long.

In a span of five days Paul Wasicka, also known as 'Kwickfish', finished fourth at the WPT's LA Poker Classic for $455,615 before coming out on top of Hold Em's toughest field in the NBC National Heads-Up Championship. His win there was worth $500,000 but being crowned the champion gave him even more exposure and respect from within the poker community.

What they may not have known was that Paul Wasicka was already a highly successful professional online poker player. His move to live play was a natural step for the player some have called the most competitive newcomer in years. That reputation, combined with his $7.5 million in live tournament winnings, are what make Paul Wasicka one of poker's superstars.
