Bill Edler’s poker journey began back in college when he was playing to help pay his law school tuition at the University of California-Berkley. Bill found that he liked practicing poker more than he liked practicing law and soon met Erick Lindgren and Gavin Smith, and began touring the poker circuit. Smith and Lindgren, and many other respected pros will now likely tell you, Bill is one of the best tournament poker players in the world.
Amazingly, Bill Edler made five final tables in 2007, and three final tables were 1st place finishes. In June, 2007, he finally got his 1st bracelet at the World Series of Poker. In a field of 728 players and a final table full of well known pros, Bill went into the final table severely short-stacked, and he was able to battle his way back and get the win good for $900,000. Bill’s live career poker tournament winnings exceed $3.3. million and he shows no signs of slowing down.
In 2007, Bill won a World Poker Tour title, a World Series of Poker bracelet, and the distinction of being one of few players to hold titles in both tournament circuits.
At one point in the World Poker Tour event, Bill Edler was down to two chips, and battled his way back to take down the title and $750,000, which is the first time this feat had been accomplished on the World Poker Tour.
Bill has often been regarded by his peers as being one of the nicest professionals on the tournament circuit, and with all his success in 2007, he is quickly adding “one of the most feared” to that distinction.
