Scotty moved to the US at the age of 14. By the young age of 23, Scotty was starting to make a name for himself in the poker world. He started out as a poker dealer, but soon learned that more money could be made by sitting on the other side of the felt.

In 2007, Scotty made sure that the usual World Series of Poker became the World Series of Scotty. Boasting six tournament cashes, two final tables, and a near repeat performance of his 1998 Main Event victory, Scotty Nguyen made 2007 a year to remember. Fans and other poker pros packed the ESPN featured table, watching on as Scotty put on a poker clinic in an attempt to be only the 5th player in WSOP history to win multiple WSOP Main Events. Cheers and support were heard for Scotty at the turn of every card, before being eliminated in 11th place.

Just ten years earlier, in 1997, Stu Unger won the World Series of Poker Main Event. Scotty kept the magazine with Stu featured on the cover. Scotty looked at that magazine cover every day and told himself that one day it would be him on that cover. One year later, after three days of grueling play, Scotty found himself at the final table of the WSOP. After several hours of play, Scotty found himself heads up with Kevin McBride. A one million dollar first prize and the coveted gold bracelet was up for grabs.

After a board with a full house of three 8’s and two 9’s, Scotty pushed his chips all in and made one of poker history’s most memorable quotes, “You call this one, and it’s gonna be all over, baby.” McBride called his bet, Scotty showed him his 9, and it was all over. Scotty Nguyen was now crowned the world champion of poker, and found himself featured on every magazine cover he could ever have hoped to be on.

Since then there has been no stopping the Prince of Poker, who won his 5th WSOP bracelet in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E event at the 2008 WSOP and  has over $11.6 million in poker winnings.  He is, without argument, one of the top five most recognized poker players of all time.
