T.J. Cloutier is one of poker's venerable veterans who continue to hold tremendous success against his competitors. After attending the University of California, Berkeley, on a football and baseball scholarship, Cloutier went on to play football in the Canadian Football League, but after his career ended with an injury, he then turned his focus to poker.
Cloutier's resume is astounding. Having won over 58 major tournaments including six-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, there is little he hasn't done in poker. Cloutier has proven a master of many games, winning WSOP bracelets in Limit Omaha Hi, Limit Omaha 8-or-better, Pot-Limit Hold'em, Omaha Hi, Seven Card Razz, and his most recent victory, the 2005 $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em event. Cloutier is the only player to have won events in all of the Omaha variants. He has also made two World Poker Tour (WPT) final table appearances.
Having earned over $9.3 million over the course of his career, Cloutier continues to prove his poker dominance as time goes on and turned his vast knowledge of the game into five instructional poker books, four of which he co-authored with Tom McEvoy. His latest release, the 2006, "How to Win the Championship: Hold'em Strategies for the Final Table," continues his commitment to helping players improve.
The father of six, Cloutier currently lives in Texas and travels the poker tournament circuit throughout the year. Considered the "best player to have never won the WSOP Main Event," Cloutier has come very close, finishing four times in the Top five, with two second-place finishes.
